It must be said that the CX-5 is by far the brand's most popular model and has an excellent reputation. Therefore, Mazda played its cards well by retaining the model for 2024. In fact, the expectation is that the CX-5 will remain on the menu for many years to come. Thus, it wouldn't be impossible for a new generation of the model to hit the market in the coming years.
Although it looks very similar, the Mazda CX-5 benefits from some improvements for 2024. The optional 10.25-inch screen is now touch-sensitive and comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, potentially making the CX-5's technological experience significantly more appealing. Somehow, the engineers at the Japanese manufacturer managed to improve the average fuel consumption rating by 0.5 L/100km with the 2.5-liter engine. The significant novelty this year is the Suna version with its zircon sand paint and unique features, not only allowing it to stand out from other CX-5 versions but also from other SUVs in its category.
Range and Pricing
The 2024 Mazda CX-5 lineup consists of six distinct versions, starting with the GX version, which has a starting price of $32,250. Therefore, the Japanese manufacturer's SUV is among the most affordable models in its category. Following the GX model is the GS version, starting at $36,100. This price increase is justified by the addition of numerous features. According to Mazda, the GS version is the most popular of the lot. Then come the Kuro, GT, and Sport Design versions with respective prices of $39,700, $41,050, and $43,950. Finally, it's the Suna version that tops the range with a price of $44,200.
Category and Competition
The Mazda CX-5 operates in the most competitive category in the current market. Compact SUVs are in high demand, and there's a wide variety of models. Therefore, it's very challenging to stand out from the others, but the Mazda CX-5 has managed to build a solid reputation despite its simplicity. It's worth mentioning that the Japanese manufacturer's SUV is more enjoyable to drive than its rivals, even in its base version. Not to mention, Mazda's quality of finishing is significantly higher. These two factors alone make a big difference for the model.

Design and Technologies
The Mazda CX-5 hasn't changed much since its last complete overhaul, and that's not necessarily a bad thing as the model remains contemporary. Mazda's aesthetic signature tends to age gracefully overall, and that holds true for the interior as well. A Mazda model that's ten years old typically doesn't appear its age.
What I greatly appreciate about Mazda models, including the CX-5, is the quality of finishing and attention to detail. Some versions teeter between the realm of mass-market vehicles and luxury vehicles.
In terms of technology, the Mazda CX-5 leaves nothing to be desired. It's safety and driving assistance technologies are very effective. The only downside remains the infotainment system and screen position, but otherwise, the Japanese manufacturer's SUV is impeccable.
Performance
The 2024 Mazda CX-5 offers two mechanical options, starting with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. It produces 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard. This combination might seem straightforward at first glance, but it remains remarkably effective. Moreover, believe me when I say that the Japanese manufacturer's SUV is very enjoyable to drive, even with this engine. However, if you desire more, the Mazda SUV also offers a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. This one delivers 256 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. Again, it comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Weak Points
The CX-5's infotainment system is not optimal. The 6-speed automatic transmission is beginning to show its age.
Strengths
The CX-5 is an elegant SUV that offers fine finishing and dynamic driving. Its all-wheel drive is also very impressive.

The Mazda CX-5 is a vehicle in its own class. It was well-designed from the start, and that's one of the reasons why it simply cannot be replaced at the moment. It's one of the few vehicles I can wholeheartedly recommend buying without any reservations.
